Created in connection with the 1000-year anniversary of Polish history, the work draws inspiration from the legendary Polish Winged Hussars and from the endurance of a nation that repeatedly defended its identity and freedom. Rather than illustrating a historical battle, Rubin transforms this heritage into a contemporary meditation on the battles carried within the human spirit.

Strength, memory and transformation

A white horse surges through an intense red field of abstract forms reminiscent of poppies. The red is not intended as a literal depiction of fire or blood; it becomes a landscape of memory, sacrifice, longing, courage and resilience. Sculptural gypsum wings extend the painting beyond the flat surface, giving the work a physical presence and reinforcing ideas of protection, ascension and inner force.

Under ultraviolet light, Wings of Victory reveals another visual layer. Hidden elements become luminous, textures deepen and the composition shifts into an almost otherworldly space.
