Her crown of flowers—vivid red and radiant—symbolizes both her creative power and the burden she carried throughout her life. Emerging from this crown is the head of Diego Rivera, her husband and mentor. His depiction resembles a corkscrew or bottle stopper, symbolizing the inevitability of their relationship: a life full of passion but also pain and betrayal. Frida could neither live with him nor without him, yet he remained a constant presence in her life, despite all the suffering he caused—including numerous affairs, even with her own sister.

In her hands, Frida holds two figures: the revolutionary Leon Trotsky and the fascinating Josephine Baker. These figures not only represent the kind of people Frida attracted but also the relationships she embraced—passionate, controversial, and marked by an extraordinary way of life. They embody the men and women who shaped Frida’s life and philosophy, as well as her ability to unite love and art, even amidst chaos and pain.
