This original painting is my personal tribute to Hanka Ordonówna—an icon of Poland’s pre-war stage, remembered for her magnetic presence and the emotional truth she carried in every performance. Rather than fixing her in a single expression, the portrait suggests multiple faces of one woman: tenderness and strength, elegance and vulnerability, distance and intimacy—changing, layered, alive.
Built in acrylic and mixed media, the work moves between figurative portraiture and contemporary abstraction. Drips, tonal transitions, and painterly shortcuts create a sense of time passing—like memory reshaping a legend into many reflections. In that way, the painting becomes a visual echo of the thought that a woman is never only one story.
The piece also carries a personal, performative link: during an event at the gallery, Karina performed Ordonówna’s famous song “Miłość Ci wszystko wybaczy” (“Love Will Forgive You Everything”), and I translated that inspiration onto the canvas—
where nostalgia meets modern expression.
